Christianity would have you believe that we are born evil and must accept Jesus as our lord and savior in order to save ourselves from burning in the fiery pits of hell. In the same breath they say that we are born with free will and are free to choose our fate.
That’s like me saying you have a choice between telling me you love me or getting a bullet in the brain. In what way does that prove how much you love me? Rather I think it would prove how much you want to live. It is interesting how otherwise intelligent people do not understand this analogy and insist that all who choose god do so because they love god and not because they are trying to save their own afterlife.
A more honest approach would have a person choose god or not choose god with an equal level of benefits and consequences to each choice. This would be more like; tell me you love me and we’ll be together forever in a monogamous relationship or don’t tell me you love me and we part ways which leaves you free to find the person you want to be with for all eternity.
But since the Christian doctrine chooses to be stubborn and hold onto illogical doctrine, I think it is safe to say that this is the true reason why:
…to read my follow up article about the debate over sponsored themes.
A little background:
Over the last six months or so, there have been arguments going back and forth about the appearance of sponsored themes in the WordPress community. A sponsored theme is a theme in which a theme designer has been paid to insert links to a website. This is just another form of link buying. I personally have no problems with this, as long as the theme designer is up front and honest about the fact that the theme he is distributing for free does include paid links.
Anyway, please keep in mind that this is only once side of the story and I encourage all of you to do a search and see what other people have to say. The Blog Herald has a post with a good set of links to start with.
A couple of months ago, I blogged about some drama brewing over the rise of sponsored themes in the WordPress community. Since then I haven’t really kept on top of the issue as I’ve been busy working on other projects. Well about a week ago, word started circling the blogosphere that sponsored themes were now being removed from the Theme Viewer which came right after the announcement by Weblog Tools Collection that they will no longer be promoting sponsored themes on their website.
I’m supposed to be writing so of course I’m doing everything else but. I’m not quite sure how I found myself at God is 4 Suckers but I was there wasting time and catching up on the latest articles. GI4S is a news/commentary website run by atheists for atheists. I spend lot time there reading the articles and learning a lot about the issues facing atheists in America and generally trying to feel less alone in my non-belief. One truly is the loneliest number and, if you don’t believe me, then you try being the only atheist in a family full of Christians.
Anyway, a link in the comment section of one of the articles led me to one of the most horrifying videos I have ever seen. It is even more distressing than seeing the Twin Towers crumbling to dust right before my eyes. Warning, this video contains footage not suitable for all audiences. Please hide your children, cats, dogs and maybe even yourself.
